Power Steering Pump Replacement LS3, LS7

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the power steering pump pulley. Refer to Power Steering Pump Pulley Replacement.
  2. Remove the remote power steering fluid reservoir. Refer to Remote Power Steering Fluid Reservoir Replacement.
  3. Disconnect the power steering fluid reservoir outlet hose from the power steering pump. Refer to Power Steering Fluid Reservoir Outlet Hose Replacement.
  4. Disconnect the power steering pressure hose from the power steering pump. Refer to Power Steering Pressure Pipe/Hose Replacement.

  5. Object Number: 663512  Size: SH
  6. Remove the power steering pump bolts (3) from the power steering pump (2).
  7. Remove the following components from the power steering pump rear bracket (1):
  8. • The power steering pump front bracket (3)
    • The power steering pump (2)

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 663512  Size: SH
  1. Install the following components to the power steering pump rear bracket (1):
  2. • The power steering pump (2)
    • The power steering pump front bracket (3)

    Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  3. Install the power steering pump bolts (4) to the power steering pump (2) and tighten to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).
  4. Connect the power steering fluid reservoir outlet hose to the power steering pump. Refer to Power Steering Fluid Reservoir Outlet Hose Replacement.
  5. Connect the power steering pressure hose to the power steering pump. Refer to Power Steering Pressure Pipe/Hose Replacement.
  6. Install the power steering fluid reservoir. Refer to Remote Power Steering Fluid Reservoir Replacement.
  7. Install the power steering pump pulley. Refer to Power Steering Pump Pulley Replacement.
  8. Fill and bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding.

Power Steering Pump Replacement LS9

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the left side valve rocker arm cover. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm Cover Replacement - Left Side.
  2. Place drain pans under the vehicle as needed.
  3. Remove as much power steering fluid from the remote power steering fluid reservoir as possible.

  4. Object Number: 2139374  Size: SH
  5. Disconnect the power steering gear inlet hose (1) from the power steering pump.

  6. Object Number: 2137344  Size: SH
  7. Compress the power steering fluid reservoir inlet hose clamp (1).
  8. Disconnect the power steering fluid reservoir inlet hose (2) from the power steering pump.

  9. Object Number: 2146235  Size: SH
  10. Remove the power steering pump bolts (1).
  11. Remove the power steering pump (2).

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 2146235  Size: SH
  1. Position the power steering pump (2) into the power steering pump housing.
  2. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  3. Install the power steering pump bolts and tighten to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).

  4. Object Number: 2137344  Size: SH
  5. Compress the power steering fluid reservoir inlet hose clamp (1).
  6. Connect the power steering fluid reservoir inlet hose (2) to the power steering pump and release the clamp.

  7. Object Number: 2139374  Size: SH
  8. Connect the power steering gear inlet hose (1) to the power steering pump and tighten to 27 N·m (20 lb ft).
  9. Install the left side valve rocker arm cover. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm Cover Replacement - Left Side.
  10. Clean any excess power steering fluid from the vehicle and remove the drain pans.
  11. Fill and bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding.
