Instrument Cluster (IPC) System Check

  1. Close all doors.
  2. Safety belt unbuckled.
  3. Gear selector in PARK.
  4. Ignition switch to START, then to ON (do not start engine).
    • A bulb check of the following indicators is performed (the indicators illuminate briefly).
       - ABS
       - Air Bag
       - Battery Charge
       - Brake Fluid
       - Engine Coolant Temperature
       - Engine Oil Pressure
       - Park Brake
       - Security
    • A gauge check of the following gauges is performed (the gauge pointers sweep through their appropriate range).
       - Engine Temperature
       - Fuel
       - Speedometer
       - Tachometer

Check Service Engine Soon indicator.

Service Engine Soon indicator illuminates.

Powertrain On Board Diagnostic (OBD) System Check

  1. Buckle driver's safety belt.
  2. Check Fasten Safety Belt indicator.

Fasten Safety Belt indicator off.

Brake Warning Indicator Inoperative

Apply park brake.

Park brake indicator illuminates.

Brake Warning Indicator Inoperative

    • Operate LH turn signal.
    • Operate RH turn signal.

Turn indicators flash with turn signals.

Adjust instrument panel dimmer control.

IPC illumination varies.

Switch headlamps to high beam on.

High beam indicator illuminates.

Start engine.

    • Engine cranks and starts.
    • Speedometer displays zero.

Diagnostic System Check - Theft Deterrent

Press the IPC control button ENG/MET.

The IPC and HVAC displays change measurement units.

Driver Information Center (DIC) Switch Inoperative - English/Metric

Press the IPC control button DSPL MODE.

The IPC digital and/or analog displays are activated or deactivated.

Press the IPC control button RESET TRIP

The selected trip odometer A or B resets to zero.

Press the IPC control button TRIP A/B

The IPC toggles between trip odometer A and B.

Press the IPC control button INFO up.

The DIC scrolls through the various status messages.

Press the IPC control button INFO down until MPH AVG is displayed on the DIC.

The DIC displays the MPH AVG message.

The MPH AVG value resets to zero.
