Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
  2. Disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in SIR.
  3. Remove the right and the left instrument panel access hole covers. Refer to Instrument Panel Outer Trim Cover Replacement .
  4. Remove the instrument panel insulators. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Replacement .
  5. Disconnect the data link connector.
  6. Remove the front carpet retainers. Refer to Front Carpet Retainer Replacement in Interior Trim.
  7. Remove the windshield side upper garnish moldings. Refer to Windshield Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement in Interior Trim.
  8. Remove the instrument panel upper trim panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Upper Trim Pad Replacement .
  9. Remove the front floor console. Refer to Front Floor Console Replacement .
  10. Remove the steering column opening filler. Refer to Steering Column Opening Filler Replacement .
  11. Remove the knee bolster bracket. Refer to Knee Bolster Bracket Replacement .
  12. Remove the bolts from the lower steering column.
  13. Remove the nuts from the upper steering column.
  14. Lower the steering column.
  15. Remove the hood release handle. Refer to Hood Release Lever Replacement .
  16. Remove the instrument panel cluster trim plate. Refer to Instrument Cluster Trim Panel Replacement .
  17. Remove the instrument panel cluster. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .
  18. Remove the instrument panel accessory trim plate. Refer to Instrument Panel Accessory Trim Plate Replacement .
  19. Remove the radio. Refer to Radio Replacement .
  20. Remove the heater A/C control. Refer to Control Assembly Replacement and to Control Assembly Replacement in HVAC-Systems Manual.
  21. Remove the ignition switch. Refer to Ignition and Start Switch Replacement .
  22. Remove the hazard warning and cruise control switch. Refer to Cruise Control and Hazard Warning Switch Replacement .
  23. Remove the switch bank. Refer to Instrument Panel Multifunction Switch Assembly Replacement .
  24. Remove the instrument panel compartment. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Replacement .
  25. Remove the instrument panel compartment lamp switch. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Lamp Switch Replacement .
  26. Reposition the fuse block.

  28. Remove the air temperature sensor. Refer to Inside Air Temperature Sensor Replacement in HVAC Systems - Manual.
  29. Remove the instrument panel trim pad mounting screws.

  31. Reposition instrument panel wiring harness.
  32. Remove the instrument panel trim pad from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 326084  Size: SH
  1. Align instrument panel trim pad to vehicle.
  2. Reposition instrument panel wiring harness.
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install instrument panel trim pad mounting bolts at the cluster pocket.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the instrument panel trim pad mounting bolts to 5 N·m (44 lb in).

  6. Install the instrument panel trim pad mounting bolts at windshield.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the instrument panel trim pad mounting bolts to 5 N·m (44 lb in).

  8. Instrument panel trim pad mounting bolts to compartment.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the instrument panel trim pad mounting bolts to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

  10. Install the air temperature sensor. Refer to Inside Air Temperature Sensor Replacement in HVAC Systems - Manual.
  11. Install the fuse block.
  12. Install the instrument panel compartment lamp switch. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Lamp Switch Replacement .
  13. Install the instrument panel compartment. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Replacement .
  14. Install the switch bank. Refer to Instrument Panel Multifunction Switch Assembly Replacement .
  15. Install the ignition switch. Refer to Ignition and Start Switch Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column - Tilt.
  16. Install the hazard warning and cruise control switch. Refer to Cruise Control and Hazard Warning Switch Replacement .
  17. Install the instrument panel cluster. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .
  18. Install the heater A/C control. Refer to Control Assembly Replacement or to Control Assembly Replacement .
  19. Install the radio. Refer to Radio Replacement in Entertainment.
  20. Install the instrument panel accessory trim plate. Refer to Instrument Panel Accessory Trim Plate Replacement .
  21. Install the hood release handle. Refer to Hood Release Lever Replacement .
  22. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application.   23. Raise the steering column.
  24. Install the nuts to the upper steering column.
  25. Tighten
    Tighten the upper steering column nuts to 24 N·m(18 lb ft).

  26. Install the bolts to the lower steering column.
  27. Tighten
    Tighten the lower steering column bolts to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).

  28. Install the knee bolster bracket. Refer to Knee Bolster Bracket Replacement .
  29. Install the steering column opening filler. Refer to Ignition and Start Switch Replacement .
  30. Install the front floor console. Refer to Front Floor Console Replacement .
  31. Install the instrument panel upper trim panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Upper Trim Pad Replacement .
  32. Install the windshield side upper garnish moldings. Refer to Windshield Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement in Interior Trim.
  33. Install the Instrument panel insulators. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Replacement .
  34. Connect the data link connector.
  35. Install the front carpet retainers. Refer to Front Carpet Retainer Replacement in Interior Trim.
  36. Install the right and the left instrument panel access hole cover. Refer to Instrument Panel Outer Trim Cover Replacement .
  37. Enable the SIR system. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in SIR.
  38. Connect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
