Important: Review the system operation in order to familiarize yourself with the system functions. Refer to Keyless Entry System Description and Keyless Entry System Circuit Description .

Visual/Physical Inspection

    • Inspect for aftermarket devices which could affect the operation of the Remote Keyless Entry System. Refer to Checking Aftermarket Accessories in Wiring Systems.
    • Inspect the easily accessible or visible system components for obvious damage or conditions which could cause the symptom.
    • Perform the transmitter programming procedure when replacing the remote control door lock receiver. Refer to Transmitter Programming .

Intermittent

Faulty electrical connections or wiring may be the cause of intermittent conditions. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems.

Refer to a symptom diagnostic procedure from the following list in order to diagnose the symptom:

    •  Delayed Door Lock Inoperative - Side
    •  Door Unlocks After Delayed Locking - Side
    •  Door Attempts to Lock While Open - Side
    •  Door Lock/Unlock Inoperative - Left Side Front
    •  Door Lock/Unlock Inoperative - RF and Side
    •  Door Unlock Inoperative with Transmitter - Left Side Front
    •  Door Unlock Inoperative with Transmitter - RF and Side
    •  Door Lock Inoperative Using Transmitter - Left Side Front
    •  Door Lock Inoperative with Transmitter - All
    •  Door Unlock Inoperative with Transmitter - All
    •  Door Lock/Unlock Inoperative - Right Side Front
    •  Door Lock/Unlock Inoperative with Transmitter - Rear
    •  Keyless Entry System Inoperative
    •  Remote Control Door Lock Receiver Does Not Program
    •  Transmitter Test
